Vinchio Vaglio – Le Tane Barbera

Per fles

8,95 Incl BTW.

Wine
This Barbera has a ruby red color with purple hues. The wine has an intense, fruity nose with aromas of small red fruit. In the mouth the wine is round, fine, fruity, fresh and easy to drink.

Le Tane is a reference to small caves in the hills of Vinchio and Vaglio. The shelter for the winegrower in case of bad weather or to store the tools.
After crushing and deseeding the grapes, the must is fermented for five days. Malolactic fermentation takes place immediately after this and the wine remains in stainless steel tanks for about three months before bottling.

The perfect wine to serve with drinks. Nice in combination with different cheeses or salami for example. Also widely applicable with light starters, salads or white meat.

Winery
In 1959, Piemonte gained a wine cooperative. Given that vineyard ownership in Piemonte is very fragmented, the two rival villages of Vinchio and Vaglio Serra decided it was time to join forces. Wine cooperatives play an important role in many parts of Italy. For many families with modest estates, the costs of equipping the cellar and selling the end product would make survival impossible.

The winery is located near Nizza Monferrato, southeast of Asti in the San Pancrazio region. This region is known for the production of class Barbera. The year 1985 is marked by the appointment of Giuliano Noè. Giuliano is a well-known oenologist from the region and brings a real quality boost to the winery.

The success of Vinchio Vaglio does not go unnoticed. For example, they consistently score good results in the Italian wine bible Gambero Rosso. Master of Wine Sarah Abbott also likes to work with the winery because of ’the Old Vine Project’, a project that encourages the use of authentic grape varieties and the preservation of old vines.

Area
The grapes come mainly from the area around the villages of Vinchio and Vaglio Serra. The soils here are sandy and calcareous. Most of the vineyards are planted on steep slopes. These steep slopes do not make the care of the vines easy. On the other hand, it ensures perfect exposure to sunlight throughout the day.

With the Tiglione Valley to the north and the Belbo Valley to the south, the two villages are situated on two opposite hills in the heart of Alto Monferrato, the centre of the most renowned wine regions of Northern Italy.
